Compare scans

Compare two RankShark Track scans of the same keyword to see how rankings moved, point by point on the grid and against competitors.

Compare a scan with an earlier one to see whether a business moved up or down. By default the earlier scan is the previous finished scan of the same keyword and engine.

To compare with a specific scan, add ?base=gs_…. List a campaign's scans with GET /v1/track/campaigns/{id}/scans to find it.

Reading the changes

  • change: positive always means better. A lower average rank shows as a positive arp change; a higher share of local voice as a positive solv change.
  • points: how many grid points moved. newlyFound points ranked nowhere before; lost points no longer show the business.
  • competitors: the top ten of the newer scan, with their figures then and now.
  • organicChange: the website's organic rank change, for search engines. null on Maps.
  • AI scans add an ai block with the mention, citation and share of voice rates, now and before.

When points are not compared

  • If the grids differ (size, shape, radius or centre), points is null and pointsNote explains why. The metrics are still compared.
  • If either scan is marked suspect, nothing is computed: change and points are null, with a note.
  • If there is no earlier finished scan, base is null.
